Event Details
Every year, the San Diego Archaeological Center hosts its popular barbecue event to honor its hardworking interns and volunteers, loyal Center members and supporters, and local and academic archaeologists and anthropologists.
This year is significant as it marks the Center’s Silver Anniversary. The Center invites the public for an afternoon of food, amusement, music, and games.
The annual barbecue draws crowds comprised of students and professionals in the field of archaeology and those who are interested in local history and support cultural preservation. Located in picturesque San Pasqual Valley, the event is perfect for anyone who is interested in the field of archaeology to mingle with other enthusiasts while enjoying fun-filled activities.
The Center will serve tacos and beer, host its second annual salsa competition, competitive games, raffle, and silent auction. Guests will enjoy classic rock and country music performed by Head First, a crowd favorite at the annual barbecue event, featuring
Dr. Timothy Gross, Advisory Board member and past Board member of the San Diego Archaeological Center.
The Center will also present the Golden Trowel Award for excellence in archaeology, recognize outstanding volunteers, and much more.

About Us
The San Diego Archaeological Center is a curation facility and museum where visitors can learn the story of how people have lived in San Diego County for the past 10,000 years. In addition to its role as a museum, the Center serves as an education and research facility and is the only local organization dedicated to the collection, study, curation and exhibition of San Diego County’s archaeological artifacts.
