Learn about Escondido’s unique history and see historic sites while getting some healthy exercise!

Held in conjunction with the “Second Saturday” Arts and Museums events, the 90-minute tours take place on the second Saturday of every month, beginning at 10:00 a.m., on the southeast corner of Broadway and Grand. No reservations needed.

Four different routes are offered:

Downtown – a tour of Grand Avenue, a glimpse into the history of Escondido’s early business district.

Rediscovering Escondido – a tour of buildings no longer standing! See the sites where once stood the USC seminary, the Hotel Escondido, Escondido High School and more. The walk includes a fairly steep hill.

Old Escondido West – a tour of the Old Escondido Historic District, the city’s oldest neighborhood, along Broadway and to the west. You’ll see a house where mayors have lived and another where the town barber lived with his goats and chickens! This walk also includes a steep hill.

Old Escondido East – a tour of the eastern part of the Old Escondido Historic District that includes two of our most notable Victorian period homes.

July 13 – OE West
August 10 – OE East
September 14 – Downtown
October 12 – Rediscover Escondido
November 9 – OE West
December – No Tour – Enjoy the Christmas Parade!
