40th Annual Fall Dixon Lake Trout Derby

escondido dixon lake trout derby

The 40th Annual Dixon Lake Trout Derby is this weekend! The competition starts on Friday, November 30 at 6:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2.

The lake is open from 6:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. each day, but you must weigh in your fish at the weigh-in table no later than 4:00 p.m. (no exceptions). Prizes will be awarded for the heaviest fish each day in Youth, Adult and Senior categories, and a Grand Prize for the heaviest fish overall. We’ll also be awarding a prize to the angler that brings in the lightest fish (.5 pound last year). There will also be prizes for the first 15 tagged fish caught. These must also be brought to the weigh-in station by 4:00 p.m. each day to qualify for a prize.

The Hidden Valley Kiwanis will be providing a Kiddy Pond for the younglings (ages 7 and younger) at Pier 2 with age-appropriate trout (sorry moms & dads, kids only). The Kiddy Pond will be hosted by the Senior Anglers of Escondido. The Senior Anglers will also be staffing the weigh-in station. Thanks to all of our volunteers for helping make this a great event!

There have been some posts on Instagram that the 40th Annual Dixon Lake Trout Derby has been cancelled/postponed. THIS INFORMATION IS FALSE. The Derby is on, and any reports to the contrary are not true.  Please call the Dixon Lake Ranger Station at (760) 839-4345, or see the SPECIAL EVENTS posting HERE for Derby details.
