The play takes place at Christmas in the Ohio home of wealthy industrialist Ernest W. Stanley. Whiteside comes for dinner one night - slips on the icy front porch - and for two weeks monopolizes their home with his odd Hollywood friends and their eccentric holiday gifts ranging from penguins, to cockroaches, to an octopus – all of which cause further chaos in this ‘normal’ mid-west home. Hickman continues, “This script is a fresh and as funny as it was when it premiered almost 80 years ago. The pacing and the one-liners make this show a perfect evening of theater at the beautiful Welk Resort.
