Welcome! Escondido, the “Hidden Valley” of San Diego, is located just 30 miles northeast of downtown San Diego and blends small-town friendliness with a diverse offering of attractions.
With a beautiful year round climate Escondido is known as the heart of northern San Diego. Rich in history and culture, it’s home to the California Center for the Arts Escondido, a unique visual and performing arts complex; the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, an expansive wildlife sanctuary; an amazing sculpture garden created by the late world-acclaimed artist Niki de Saint Phalle; and the Daley Ranch, a wilderness preserve with extensive hiking trails.
Escondido also offers a variety of culinary experiences with chef-owned restaurants, three weekly farmers’ markets, many beautiful boutique wineries and the center of the craft beer culture’s… Stone Brewing Co. & Stone World Bistro and Gardens.
This wonderfully unique area also offers many other activities such as enjoying a round of golf at one of the six golf courses, fishing or picnicking at three different lakes, cycling on Palomar Mountain, hiking on the Caballo Trail, browsing through downtown art galleries or shopping at world-class retail stores and the largest auto park in Southern California. You can also play at one of several nearby casino resorts!
Friday nights from April through October, in our historic downtown center, Escondido hosts Crusin’ Grand, a blast to the past featuring pre-‘70s vintage cars and music. Come visit one of our award winning boutique wineries and play challenging golf courses or hike in scenic preserves, bike down ranch or pine-covered mountains, or cast a line in one of our three beautiful fishing lakes.
Whatever brings you to our area, we appreciate your visit and we encourage you to Explore, Experience and Enjoy Escondido!
