Welcome spring and marvel as thousands of butterflies fill the air and land to feed just inches away from you and your camera! Wear bright colors, and the winged wonders might think you’re a flower and land on you! Join us March 10 through April 15 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Enjoy the experience of thousands of butterflies filling the air around you. Wear bright colors, and the winged wonders might think you’re a flower and land on you! Immerse yourself in a flutter of delicate wings! Each spring, Hidden Jungle gets an added dose of color during the Butterfly Jungle event, when thousands of colorful butterflies hatch and add their fluttering presence to this extraordinary exhibit.

There will be more than 30 species hailing from Central, South and North America, including eye-catching butterflies such as the zebra longwing, orange-barred tiger, Grecian shoemaker, giant swallowtail and blue morpho. In addition to butterflies, 18 exotic bird species—including the endangered pink pigeon and the Mariana fruit dove—share the aviary.

During Butterfly Jungle, the Safari Park is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Priority butterfly viewing is available for a nominal fee. Inquire at the Lorikeet Landing ticket booth.

A tropical rain forest is teeming with wildlife, beautiful but often hard to see. Hidden Jungle’s climate-controlled environment allows you to see delicate and fascinating tropical birds and plants. The dense growth and variety of plants provide cover and food sources for Hidden Jungle residents.

Butterfly Jungle presented by San Diego METRO Credit Union at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park features thousands of beautiful butterflies—flying, floating and fluttering in an aviary that also includes exotic birds, lush greenery and flowers. Butterfly Jungle guests are able to walk leisurely among butterflies of all colors, shapes and sizes, take photos, and learn more about these remarkable winged creatures. Guests are encouraged to wear bright colors and move slowly, to attract the butterflies. They may land on your shoulder, your head or anywhere they want!
