American Cancer Society Bark For LifeBates farmeducation Jinny Picture
September 21, 2013; 8:00 – 12:00
This fundraising event honors the life-long contributions of canine caregivers. Families and their dogs come together for a few hours during the day and complete a one mile walk to honor the care giving qualities of their canine best friends and cancer survivors. Pumpkin Patch
September 25 – October 31 Weekdays 9:00 – 5:00 and October weekends 8:30 – 6:00
The Bates pumpkin patch, tractor hay rides, straw maze and farm zoo are a fall tradition.  Weekends feature live entertainment, pony rides, petting zoo, BBQ, kettle corn, and other family friendly events.  See website for special event & entertainment schedule. Admission and parking are free.

Farm Education Day
September 28, 10:00 – 4:00
Representatives from the farm and agriculture community share unique and diverse stories of their “Life on the Farm” experiences.  Learn about growing plants, beekeeping, wool spinning, farm animals, and other farm activities.   Live entertainment and food, tractor hayrides, picnicking and farm zoo continue through the weekend. Admission and parking are free.

Early Days Gas Engine & Tractor Association (EDGETA) Show
September 28 & 29, 9:00 – 5:00
EDGETA Branch 22 and Vista Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum will share equipment from their nostalgic collections.  Antique tractors, trucks, washing machines, toys, tools, pumps, and stationary engines in operation will all be featured.  Demonstrations of quilt making on hand cranked sewing machines, blacksmithing, and ice cream making. Tractor parades at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. both days. Admission and parking are free.


22nd Annual Scarecrow Contest
October 12; Awards presented at 1:00 p.m.
Get your friends and family together to create a scarecrow to enter in the annual Scarecrow Contest.  Each entry receives a free pumpkin, and remains on display in the pumpkin patch for the season.  Entries due by 10 a.m. Saturday, October 12th.  Cash prizes and gift certificates are awarded through 3rd place. Entry forms available at www.batesnutfarm.biz. Admission and parking are free.

Halloween Costume Contest
October 19; registration from 9:00 – 10:30
Show off your Halloween costume at the annual Bates Nut Farm Costume Contest and Parade.  Prizes awarded in four age categories, so everybody has a chance to win.  Costume parade and judging begin at 11:00.   Even if you don’t participate in the parade & contest, come out to the farm and see the creative and scary costumes! Admission and parking are free.

Doggie Costume Contest
October 20; registration from 9:00 – 10:30
Don’t miss the 6th annual “Howl-o-ween” Doggie Costume Parade and Contest on Sunday, October 20th.  Bring your dog to Bates Nut Farm in their favorite costume, and compete for prizes and bragging rights.  Prizes will be awarded to the Top Dogs!  Parade and judging begin at 11:00.  Admission and parking are free.

Car Show:  East County Cruisers Car Show and Toy Drive
November 9, 9:00 – 2:00
The 11th annual East County Cruisers Car Show and Toy Drive will be back at Bates Nut Farm this year.  See classic and one-of-a-kind cars on display. Participate in their annual toy drive by bringing an unwrapped toy to the farm.  Our local military families will benefit from your generosity.  Admission and parking are free.

“Christmas on the Farm” Arts ‘n Crafts Fair 
November 9 & 10, 9:00 – 4:00
Start your holiday shopping early at the Bates Nut Farm “Christmas on the Farm” Arts ‘n Crafts Fair.  Over 80 artisans will be selling a variety of handmade crafts and fine art.  Live entertainment, Kids’ Zone and food vendors will round out this day of family fun.  Admission and parking are free.

“Santa’s Coming” Arts ‘n Crafts Fair
November 29 – December 1, 9:00 – 4:00
Bates Nut Farm will be hosting their annual “Santa’s Coming!” Arts ‘n Craft Fair on Thanksgiving weekend.  The Craft Fair will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 29 – December 1 from 9 am to 4 pm.  Over 80 artisans will be selling a variety of handmade crafts and fine art.  Admission and parking are free.
