Denyce Cooper, president of the Escondido Soccer Club says, “Through the strong partnership between the City of Escondido and the Escondido Soccer Club, we have been able to develop, enhance and manage the unique asset of Francis Ryan Park, and to attract some of the premier soccer events in the nation to the City of Escondido.” Cooper states that some of these events include CalSouth State and National Cup, The Veterans Cup, The Commissioners Cup, The Surf Thanksgiving Tournament, and The San Diego Developmental Academy College Showcase.

“These tournaments attract teams from all over the nation, as well as international teams. In addition to bringing in much needed tourism revenue, we continue to receive recognition as one of the top venues in the country for high level soccer tournaments and events,” adds Cooper.

The Escondido Soccer Club currently serves close to 1,800 players and their families. The club was founded in 1976 and was one of the first youth soccer organizations in the north county.  They currently offer recreational, competitive, spring and all-star programs, enabling them to bring the great game of soccer to players of all skill levels.  Some of the Club’s players have been selected to participate in the Olympic Development Program, which is limited to only the top elite players in the nation.  In addition, some of our graduating players have been accepted at colleges throughout the country, and several players were recently offered positions on semi-pro teams in Mexico.

For the first time in San Diego this season, the Club will be hosting the San Diego Developmental Academy College Showcase. The first stage for the youngers was held on Sunday, August 24th and the olders will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2013.  This event is limited to the top 20 percent of teams in San Diego County.  There will be a total of 88 games played on Sunday the 24th and it will be attended by both college coaches and VIP’s from around the CalSouth, ODP and Presidio leagues.
