Patio Playhouse presents Into The Woods
Book by James Lapine
Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim

Play runs under the stars at Kit Carson Park – August 11th through 26th
Performances Thurs-Sun at 8 p.m.

James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim take everyone’s favorite storybook characters and bring them together for a timeless, yet relevant, piece… and a rare modern classic. The Tony Award-winning book and score are both enchanting and touching.

The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone’s wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.

Our production will also be utilizing songs from the original Broadway production as well as the revival, making it into an enchanting new story. Think you know the story? Think again.

About Patio Playhouse
Patio Playhouse was incorporated in November of 1967 to establish a theatre group for theatrical arts education and presentation. For over four decades, we’ve been building a community of playgoers and participants by providing affordable, quality entertainment and opportunities for people to take part in the production of award-winning shows.

We provide a venue where people from school age to seniors can participate in live drama, learn new skills, and enrich the quality of life in the community. Our Youtheatre introduces live theatre to school children by providing school performances.  We want to keep participation affordable and open to all in the community so, unlike some other theatres, we don’t require audition or performance fees.
