Distinction Gallery, in collaboration with the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, is excited to present Filipino artist Jon Jaylo’s solo exhibition entitled “All These Answers That May Never Come Our Way.” This exhibit will showcase 11 new paintings and several drawings Jaylo created specifically for this exhibition. Jon Jaylo’s art has received global acclaim for his contemporary surrealist style.

The Opening Reception will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 from 5:30-7:30 (free for CCAE members) and 7:30-9:30pm ($10 for general public) in Gallery One at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Jaylo will be in attendance to meet, greet, and answer questions for guests. Light refreshments and drinks will be served.

Heated Exchange: Contemporary Encaustics

No longer entombed with the mummies, the ancient art of encaustic (hot wax) resonates in contemporary culture. The multi-dimensional surface, luminous color, and ethereal image layering unique to this once obsolete medium is now recognized both for its exquisite beauty and incredible versatility.
Also featuring work by local artists Angela Koenig, Josie Rodriguez, and Jiela Rufeh.
